Orissa under-19 girls win two, lose two

Orissa experienced mixed luck in the National under-19 women`s limited overs cricket tournament at Pune, winning two super league matches by big margin and losing the other two narrowly.

They started their campaign on an unlucky note, losing to Maharashtra by three runs on December 29, 2010. In the next three matches, Orissa thrashed Uttar Pradesh by eight wickets on December 31, lost to Punjab by four runs on January 2, 2011 and trounced Karnataka by eight wickets on January 4.

Among outsanding individual performers of the Orissa team, Madhuri Meheta slammed an unbeaten 73 against UP, Shrabani Ray hit an unbeaten 50 against Karnataka and Rasanara Parwin bagged six wickets for 26 runs against Punjab.

Karnataka:
111/10 in 47.2 overs (A Deepika 61, SS Sharanya 21; Gongotree Behera 2/21, Swagatika Rath 1/1, Priyanka Sahu 1/23, Rasanara Parwin 1/30) lost to Orissa: 112/2 in 32.2 overs (Shrabani Ray 50 n.o, Madhuri Meheta 26) by 8 wickets.
